KOLSTAD’S PANTOMIME ADVENTURE

The musician Aksel Kolstad invited to a vernissage and music event on Wednesday 5th Of December at his place Cafe de Concert at Tjuvholmen in Oslo. Photographer Natalia Pipkina (top photo) displayed an adventure of photos with Aksel and the famous ballet dancer Maiko Nishino from the Norwegian Opera & ballet, dressed and made up like “Harlequin and Columbine”. He received a pair of her ballet shoes with her autograph - and he was starstruck!

- She’s a Michael Jordan and a world star! I have get-togethers once a month, and is is a way to show the business industry that they can invest and have product launches here - all displayed under a classical music umbrella. People can get an artistic experience with a sausage in the hand, the classical piano player and comedian says.

- It was very comfortable to work with Aksel. He’s so generous an inspiring. Being Harlequin and Columbine was like entering a music box, the prima ballerina says.

Photographer Pipkina is self-taught. Kolstad says she is a perfectionist - much like himself!

- He has great charisma and is so good at gathering people and show things in a different way. Maiko is also an icredibly nice person, the photographer finishes.

Among the sponsors were ICA, BMW and Metier.

BLING BY BØRRE FOR GLITTER

The statement jewelry trend is hot like never before. The Norwegian jewelry designer Børre Olsen has launched a limited collection for Glitter. The PR agency Polhem and commercial jewelry chain store invited to a pre-launch at Majorstuen in Oslo on Wednesday 5th of December. The collection was launched in all Glitter stores in Norway the day after.

Børre has had great success with his jewelry brand SO-B. The limited condition consists of seven necklaces and four bracelets, and is true to his signature and expression. The scull is his hallmark. In the Glitter collection, he has added a panther head as well as a new element.

- How do you consider, as a Norwegian designer, to be able to collaborate with such a big commercial player?

- I think it’s so fun! I have children myself and a daughter who loves Glitter. I’ve been asked to do collaborations with several other Norwegian chains. When Glitter - as a big Scandinavian chain - asked me, I didn’t have any doubts. I said yes at once!

- In which way do you think this contributes to a wave where Norwegian designers can do commercial collaborations?

- That is what I’ve wanted to do. There’s so many skilled designers, and you actually don’t earn any money as a designer in Norway. You have to go commercial. In this way, it’s fun anyway, and it will still have your identity and characteristics in a more affordable way. Chain stores in our country should really hire Norwegian designers in stead of foreign players. I’m glad Glitter took a chance on me!

BØRRES BLING FOR GLITTER

Man må gå kommersielt. Butikkjeder i Norge burde absolutt leie inn norske designere i stedet for bare utenlandske.

SELLING TREASURES AT ARKADEN

The vacant premises at the top floor at Arkaden shopping centre in Oslo was filled with bloggers selling their fashion treats on Saturday 1st of December. Linda Marie Hattmosøy (www.linda-mari.femelle.no) and Stine Steen (www.haawt.blogg.no, girls at the right photo, third from top), were selling designer treasures like vintage Dior clutches.

The popular outfit blogger Julie W (http://fashiondiaries.vixen.no/ - top photo) sold some shoes from her extensive Jeffrey Campbell collection.

- Have you sold your chothes like this before?

- No, I haven’t. I’m like an old lady who keep everything, but now I’m moving, and I won’t have my own room for clothes anymore. I’ll buy new furniture for what I earn today - that’s how it is to grow up!

Anniken Jørgensen (www.annijor.femelle.no) and her girlfriend Madeleine Nyberg (fourth photo from top to the left) got up at 6 am in Drammen and went to Oslo to sell.

- It’s the first time we do this, and it’s good fun! Reuse is good, Anniken says.

The vintage shopping event was hosted by the Vender Group, the blogger gateway Femelle and the first and secondhand online webshop Trendsales. Mathilde Paaske from Trendsales (http://www.trendsales.no/) says they’ll host the same event in the spring.

- Secondhand, reuse and ecological products are good for the environment. We’re really passionate about this concept. It’s also a good shopping choice for students who doesn’t have that much money, she finishes.

CATWALK HAT PARADE

The imaginative designer students at Esmod Oslo college, displayed their hats at Sainte Catherines Party on Monday 26th of November at Stratos in Oslo. It was almost impossible to choose just a few from 173 photos. ALL hats were amazing and unique!

ESMOD HATTERS: COLORS AND HUMOR

The fox hiding behind a pine tree, the national pizza “Grandiosa” and the wooden church (‘stavkirke’ in Norwegian). It’s so Norwegian, it’s traditional and impressingly composed! All glory to the designer students and teachers at Esmod Oslo.

ESMOD HATTERS: NORWEGIAN NOSTALGIA

The designer student Mika Tollefsrud (third photo from the top) won the hat-making contest at the Sainte Catherine Party at Stratos in Oslo on Monday 26th of November. She wore a birch wood top hat. The assignment was to design a hat after the theme “The Norwegian spirit”.

- It was a wide variation in the interpretation of the theme. Everything from “Kvikk Lunsj” (chocolate) hats, wood church to birch tree stumps. There’s no limits for the student’s creativity and innovation. It’s very good fun when many young and promising designer talents get to play with Norwegian traditions! says Esmod Oslos principal, Geir Ivar Nordli.

Many of Norway´s superfabolous women were gathered at the Bik Bok flagship store at Karl Johan in Oslo on Wednesday 21st of November. Many could buy the exclusive collection in advance at the pre-shopping.
